Wireless Network ConfigurationSetting up a dependable wireless network begins with choosing your wireless carrier. You can either utilize dependable WiFi connectivity or set up a contract with a carrier of your choice. If you begin a new contract with an Internet carrier, you will be provided with a modem or router. If you are pulling off a WiFi network, you will need a router that will detect wireless networks near you. Most new computers have built in routers or you can purchase a wireless network PC adapter to make WiFi possible. Once you have a wireless network provider and the necessary tools, you are ready for the Wireless Network Configuration. Connecting your wireless router will temporarily take you off the Internet as you work out the Wireless Network Configuration. You will be connecting your router to the modem or WiFi network and as soon as everything is installed properly, you should be able to power on the PC. Give it enough time to connect to the Internet. This should be obvious by the computer icon at the right hand bottom of the screen. If it has a red X or a yellow exclamation point, then you may need to reconfigure the Wireless Network Configuration. The modem should show a connection to the Internet regardless if the PC does not. Once you have established a connection, you will likely be prompted to name your connection and provide a password. In the network and sharing center of your personal PC, you can locate your modem number, the strength of your signal, and you can finish the Wireless Network Configuration. This location will allow you to choose what you share or do not share with anyone else who has access to your wireless network. You can view other computers and devices, setup or manage wireless networks, and diagnose and repair any problems. Wireless Network Configuration for WiFi is easy as all you do is open the network sharing center and choose to connect to an available network. Without a security key, you can only connect to unsecured networks. Many public places offer free WiFi within a certain distant of the wireless network.
